By Captain Christopher Scelza
June 26, 2011

On June25, 2011 at approximately 2005 Hours, Sleepy Hollow Fire Chief John Korzelius radioed 60 Control to dispatch Engine 87 and Rescue 12 to Riverside Drive for a motor vehicle that had rolled down a steep embankment into the MTA Metro North Railroad tracks. Chief Korzelius who lives in the vicinity and heard the crash, was the first responder on the scene. Both occupants of the vehicle had used their seatbelts and were able to get out of the car on their own. Chief Korzelius ordered them to stay where they were while he had power shutdown on the railroad tracks and the fire department along with EMS was dispatched. The two individuals were checked by Sleepy Hollow Ambulance Corps (SHAC) EMT's while the vehicle was secured by SHFD firefighters. Stiloski's Towing was requested to bring their 85 Ton Wrecker in order to lift the vehicle off the tracks. MTA Police, MTA personnel and SHPD officers were also present to lend assistance.
